RxFIT: A Culture

I define culture as the DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS AND CUSTOMS OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE – A GROUP IDENTITY.

My manifesto of how I view and define the culture at RxFIT.

At RxFIT we seek to live and act within a framework of PRINCIPLES.

prin·ci·ple

/ˈprinsəpəl/

A fundamental truth that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior.

The 4 principles that I feel best embody our culture at RxFIT are:

Virtuosity

Loyalty

Service

Pride

VIRTUOSITY:

“Performing the common uncommonly well.”-Glassman

From the way we perform an air squat, learn high skill gymnastics, wipe a barbell, and put away our wallballs…  We seek to do the difficult, technical, menial, and even the tedious work, uncommonly well.

LOYALTY:

“You know how some people, when they’re together, they somehow make you feel special? Make you feel like the world is not the insane place it really is?”
―
Rebecca Wells

We are loyal to ourselves and our community. We show our loyalty by being caring and supportive of others and trying our best to be loyal to the pursuit of virtuosity in our daily lives.  We become friends, and we mean it.

SERVICE:

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” -Muhammad Ali

We seek out simple and genuine ways to serve our friends.  We help put away weights, send text messages when we haven’t seen someone in a few days, bring cans for a Turkey Burpee Drive!  We are a family and service is the way we show others that we care.

PRIDE:

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” ― Phil Jackson

We feel true happiness and satisfaction from our own achievements but especially the achievements of our friends!  We have respect, love, and a deep sense of community that makes us one big family.

I invite you to consider how these PRINCIPLES are applicable in your daily life.

At the root of what we Coaches teach you every day in class is the concept if FUNCTIONAL FITNESS.  Functional means that something is practical and useful in every day life.

My call to action is that you seek to embody and live by these (and other principles of your choosing) every day and therefore fortify you FUNCTIONAL CHARACTER.  It is a process, it is a choice, it is a way of life.

RxFIT is a way of life.

“People successful in life, in business, and in relationships are living into a process that leads to excellence.”
