Next Saturday, May 21, we will be hosting the Utah Super Meet. This is the ultimate test of lifting barbells as it will combine both the powerlifting sport with the weightlifting sport.
A few years ago while at the CrossFit Games, one the sponsoring businesses held a side challenge in one of the vendor pavilions. It was labeled “The 1-Ton Challenge” where they were seeing if a male could lift a combined total of 2,000-lbs in six lifts: snatch, clean, jerk, back squat, bench press, and deadlift (they broke up the clean and the jerk).
This was a play on the SuperTotal because, frankly, they knew no male was going to hit 1-ton. I immediately wanted to host a meet in Utah where athletes would fine their SuperTotal. Fast forward a few years later and here we are. I can’t wait for next weekend!
