The RxFIT Cowboy

I’ve been inspired by the Iron Cowboy’s (James Lawrence) ongoing feat right now. For the past 88 days, he’s woken up at or before 5:00 a.m. to complete an ironman–swim 2.4-miles, bike 112-miles, and then run 26.2-miles. After 15-hours of training, he goes back to sleep just to repeat the same day again.

He’s attempting to complete 100 Ironmans in 100 Days. In two weeks, he will have accomplished the feat. Follow his journey here.

So with someone as inspiring as Lawrence, I wanted to create a challenge athletes in our community could strive for. Not a challenge of endurance and stamina, but one of general fitness: one that was both near impossible and included impressive feats individually from each aspect of fitness.

So here it is:

The RxFIT Cowboy (Men)
In one day, complete the following:

  • 500-lb Deadlift
  • 400-lb Back Squat
  • 300-lb Clean & Jerk
  • 200-lb Snatch
  • 100 Push-Ups in one set
  • 90 Sit-Ups
  • 80-Mile Bike (without breaks)
  • 7:00 Row; 2000-meters (8:00 for females)
  • 6:00 Run; 1-mile (7:00 for females)
  • 50 Pull-Ups in one set
  • 40-Yard Handstand Walk
  • 30 Muscle-Ups in Under 3-Minutes
  • 20 Consecutive Free Throws
  • 10 Freestanding Strict Handstand Push-Ups

The RxFIT Cowboy (Women)
In one day, complete the following:

  • 350-lb Deadlift
  • 280-lb Back Squat
  • 210-lb Clean & Jerk
  • 140-lb Snatch
  • 70 Push-Ups in one set
  • 90 Sit-Ups in one set
  • 80-Mile Bike (without breaks)
  • 8:00 Row; 2000-meters
  • 7:00 Run; 1-mile
  • 35 Pull-Ups in one set
  • 40-Yard Handstand Walk
  • 30 Muscle-Ups in Under 4-Minutes
  • 20 Consecutive Free Throws
  • 10 Freestanding Strict Handstand Push-Ups

The female version doesn’t follow the pretty tens and hundreds format–but nonetheless, a very challenging and inspiring feat. Details of these movements can be found here and here.

While you won’t be doing something for 100 consecutive days, you’ll need well over that many consecutive days training to just be capable of completing one of these tasks.

If you’re going to pursue The RxFIT Cowboy, be prepared for a journey similar to the Iron Cowboy’s. Yesterday, one of his fans asked about how the 100 Day pursuit has been. Lawrence responded:

“[You asked] What percentage of this journey is mental and how much is physical? 100% each.

Similarly, in order for you to be successful in the RxFIT Cowboy pursuit, it will require 100% of your mental and physical ability. Get after it.
